ABOUT THE GROUP: We are the Heartland Country Cloggers! Started in 1994, with just 8 members, we have grown to 15+ performers. Members include those who have been with the group for more than a decade as well as those who just took lessons last fall. Male, female, young and old, we have it all. We perform both traditional and contemporary shows, public events and private bookings throughout the central Michiana region (north central Indiana and lower central Michigan). We perform a wide variety of songs from country, gospel, bluegrass, oldies, and even pop! Although the majority of our performances occur in the summer festival season, we perform in the fall and spring outdoors. Of course we can perform in the winter indoors.

Getting ready for 2018 performance season

We’re planning our song line up with a few old favorites such as A Place In The Choir, Casey Jones, Everywhere I go, Screen Door, Brown County Breakdown and Wake Up Little Susie. Get Back To The Country will be just for our littles (well, 2 littles and a not-so-little-anymore). We’ll also be adding some new ones such as Lookin’ Up, Get On Board and one that mother-daughter duo Ellen & Cassidy choreographed the morning before demonstrating it to the group!

Coming back as an oldie but goodie is Cripple Creek. We’d like to add a few more oldies but goodies, but there’s been so many we can’t decide which ones! If you have a favorite Blast From The Past, be sure to let us know. It will help us get ready for our 25th Anniversary season in 2019!!!

WHAT is Clogging?

Clogging is a truly American dance form that began in the Appalachian Mountains and now enjoys widespread popularity throughout tile (United States and around the world. As the Appalachians were settled in the mid 1700’s by the Irish, Scottish, English and Dutch-Germans, the folk dances of each area met and began to combine in an impromptu foot-tapping style, the beginning of clog dancing as we know it today. The word “Clog” comes from the Gaelic, and means “time”. Clogging is a dance that is done in time with the music -to the downbeat usually with the heel keeping rhythm.
